Repair or replace? An honest answer first
Not every shop will tell you this, but plenty of windshield damage can be repaired instead of replaced. As a general rule: chips smaller than a quarter and cracks shorter than a few inches are good repair candidates, as long as they're not directly in the driver's line of sight and haven't reached the edge of the glass.
When you call, describe the damage (or text us a photo) and we'll tell you straight whether a repair will hold or whether replacement is the safer option. We've been doing this in Worcester for over 20 years. We'd rather give you the right answer than the expensive one.
How windshield chip repair works
A repair injects a clear, optical-grade resin into the chip or crack under pressure, then cures it with UV light. The resin bonds the glass, stops the crack from spreading, and restores most of the windshield's strength and clarity. Done right, the blemish shrinks to a faint mark you'll stop noticing within a week.
The whole process takes about 30 minutes. You can wait in the shop on King St, or we can come to your driveway or workplace with our mobile service. Same price either way.
Why you shouldn't wait on a chip
Glass damage spreads. Temperature swings, potholes, even hitting the defroster on a cold Massachusetts morning can turn a repairable chip into a foot-long crack overnight. Once a crack spreads past a few inches or reaches the edge of the windshield, repair is off the table and you're paying for a full replacement.
A 30-minute repair now is the cheapest auto glass work you'll ever buy. Most of our repair customers are in and out the same day they call.
Insurance often covers repairs at $0
Insurers prefer paying for a cheap repair over an expensive replacement, so many comprehensive policies cover chip repair with no deductible at all. We work with major insurance providers, bill them directly, and handle the paperwork. Call with your insurer's name and we'll tell you what to expect before any work starts.
